How long will it take to get my taxes done?

That depends! Tax returns are processed in the order the information is received from the client – each return is assigned a sequential number as the packets are received. The returns are then processed in that order. If your data is correct and complete when the packet is received at KDL, our average turn around time is two weeks or less. This time frame can be impacted (positively or negatively) by:

  • the complexity of the return
  • the overall volume of activity taking place
  • how quickly any questions from the CPA are answered by the client
  • prompt receipt of K-1s and other supporting information

Also, for S corporations, if KDL prepares both the corporate return and the shareholder(s) return, typically the S Corporation return is not released until the shareholder return is completed.

Can payment for tax preparation be taken out of my refund?

At this time, KDL does not take payment out of the clients’ refund; our terms call for payment upon receipt of the return, with interest being charged after 30 days. If the client receives an electronic refund within ten days – two weeks of our e-filing and then pays the bill, no interest will be charged so long as payment is received within the 30-day window.

Do I have to make an appointment or can I mail my information to KDL?

Clients can certainly mail their tax packet to KDL. If the current year’s information has no significant changes from prior years and there are no specific concerns to be discussed, the packet can be mailed in. It will be put through intake, then processed in the order in which it was received. Special notes can be made on the organizer, which should be thoroughly reviewed by the client before being sent in. We also offer secure online document transmission for uploading your sensitive tax infomation. Contact us about how to receive your private login & password.

How much will it cost to get my taxes done?

That depends! Tax returns vary widely in terms of time and complexity, and there are times when the preparer must research how and whether laws apply to the client’s unique situation. Our goal is not to achieve Turbo velocity, but rather to achieve accuracy and optimum deduction!

A simple return with no sub-schedules may only take a short time to prepare, review and assemble. A complex return can take hours (which might be) spread out over several days or even weeks, dependent upon availability of information.

The best way to get a more specific answer is to make an appointment and come in with your questions and materials.

How long will it take to get my refund?

Your refund should be deposited into your bank account within two weeks from the date of acceptance, if: Your federal and state returns are efiled, and Your direct deposit information is correctly entered on your return, and Your return is accepted at the IRS[1].

How can I save on tax preparation fees?

  • Make sure all your data is organized and complete[2]
  • Thoroughly answer all the questions in the organizer If you receive an email with questions from the CPA, answer promptly

[1]Certain errors can cause a return to be rejected by the IRS. These errors must be corrected, then the return is resubmitted to the IRS. Typical rejections come from incorrect social security numbers; name/social security number mismatches; dependents being claimed by two different parties, and similar data errors. [2] If you are waiting for one or two forms to come in, send the packet anyway, and insert a piece of paper with a note saying that you are waiting for a K-1, or a 1099. Then, as SOON as you receive it, Use our secure document upload, fax, scan and email or otherwise get that form over to our offices. It’s a good idea to follow up with an email or phone call to make sure that the missing form has been received at KDL.
